Camp 3:1 is a 5-day camp on July 8th - 12th from 8:30 - 5:00 daily. This is a camp that will be hosted by Palmyra and Stokesburg United Methodist Church's with involvement from community leaders. Camp 3:1 is absolutely free to children in grades K - 8th, where they can come to the heart of Christian hospitality to learn about art, science and other community gifts. This is meant to be educational, but also extraordinarily fun. Contacts have been made with the fire department, law enforcement, animal handlers, local artists, teachers and medical professionals to come and engage kids on a multitude of topics. There should be something to engage each child.

An example day would exclude a nutritious morning breakfast, a morning session from a reptile expert showing kids live specimens, lunch provided, and afternoon sessions where the kids are split into three groups by age. Sessions included instruction, demonstrations and hands on activities ranging from photography, cooking, tie-dye, pottery, science experiments and farm visits. In between sessions will be time for even snacking and playing games. This is meant to be a time where kids who are stuck at home for the summer can come and engage their bodies, minds and spirits.

While this will be hosted and put on by the Stokesburg-Palmyra charge, this is meant to be a community event. The Methodist Missional Network will be involved along with the ecumenical council of local pastors. We believe this can benefit the community in a number of ways. First and foremost, in an area where many children are on free/reduced lunch, it is important for kids to know they have a place to eat for a week of the summer. Secondly, we want to engage the kids in topics of law enforcement and fire safety from experts in our community. Third, we want to show the kids topics that they may have never engaged in before and set them on the path of continuing with it as a hobby or career. Finally, we seek to involve the community and show these kids Christian love. We want to open the doors and let the children in. We want to take the most left field topics and make them accessible to our local children. This is not going to be a Vacation Bible School, this is not for (just) the grandchildren of members of the church - this will be feeding, this will be transportation, this will be a time of learning and having an exciting time for a week of the summer.

This is Camp 3:1
